Congratulations to our 2014 All-South Jersey Members

Alex Bierman and Jolie Delia were both congratulated by PHS principal Dr. Cherie Lombardo and Assistant Principal Mr. Shea Murray for earning places in the 2014 All South Jersey Senior High Bands.  The South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors Association held auditions at the beginning of December and of all the students that tried out Alex was selected to perform with the Wind Ensemble, the top group, and Jolie was selected to perform with the Symphonic Band.

They will both perform a concert at Rowan University in January and are eligible to audition for the All-State Ensembles.  These two students will do an amazing job representing the Pitman High School music department!!!

Holiday Concert and Toys for Tots Collection

Please bring a new unwrapped toy with you this evening when you attend our holiday concert.  We will be having a Toys for Tots drive in the lobby.

Tonight's concert is the culmination of the many hours of work your children and I have put in since September.  We are sure to have an amazing performance this evening and are very excited to share the holiday spirit with all of you.

Concert begins at 7:00 pm.

Concert dress and report times

The holiday concert begins at 7:00 pm.  High school band students need to report to the band room at 6:30.

Concert dress:

Men: Black dress pants, Black dress shirt, black dress shoes.

Women: Black dress/skirt or dress pants.
Black dress shoes.

NO Sneakers or Jeans
All dresses or skirts must fall below the knee.

Toys for Tots

At all of the holiday concerts this year the Pitman Education Association will be collecting new and unwrapped toys for children in need.  Please consider bringing one in when you attend our annual concert.

Report time for the Thanksgiving football game is 8:30 am.  We should return to PHS by 1.  

The Pitman Holiday parade report time will be 3:30.

The West Cape May report time will be 2:00.

These performances are considered mandatory and all members are expected to attend unless excused by Mr. Carey.

Saturday Update 10/11 12:08pm

As of right now the parade and the Shawnee show are both on.  If there is any change in the parade I will do my best to get that information out to the kids via the group texting app we have.  I will also put that information here on the web page.  

Shawnee is planning on running an outdoor show even if it is raining a little.  They have a turf field so they aren't worried about field conditions.  Please make sure your dressed appropriately in the event that it does remain outdoors.

Shawnee is still on.

West Deptford has moved their show to Monday beginning at 5:00pm.  We plan to rehearse Monday beginning at noon.

This weekend

Report time is 9:00 am. We are leaving for Seneca and performing at noon.  Students will have time for lunch at Seneca.  After awards we will leave for Collingswood.  Our performance is at 6:00 after which we will pack and head back to Pitman.  We are not staying for awards.  If your child would like to stay and had a ride home please send in a note Saturday morning staying who will be taking them home from the show.

Timber Creek

The kids earned a 73.4 at the Timber Creek show tonight.  That was the highest score we've started a season with in TOB.  They did an amazing job for this early in the season and we should all be very proud of them.  Thanks to all the parental support shown to make this season a success already!!

Timber Creek Show Times

Our very first show of the season is right around the corner.  We will be performing our 2013 show at the Timber Creek High School TOB preview show.  Our clinic time for the preview show is 3:20.  We will be performing in competition at 8:15 pm.  We will have tickets on sale this week for the show more details will be available this week.  Please come out and support the kids at there very first show.

Preview

The preview show was totally awesome!!!  Here's to a great 2013 season!!!!!!!  Thank you to all the parents, family and friends that attended.  Without you none of this would be possible.

Student Pick Up today

Student pick-up will occur after the parent preview on Davis field.  All students will report back to the high school to help put equipment away then they will be dismissed.  See everyone there!!

Please do not report to the high school to pick up your child or their luggage prior to the preview.

Band Camp Parent Meeting Wednesday

The band camp parent meeting will be held Wednesday, August 7th at 7:30pm in the high school auditorium.  All children will need to have one parent or guardian attend this meeting.  Required paperwork can be downloaded from the forms section of this website for you to turn in at the meeting.  

The balance of your camp costs will be due at that time as well.  Questions regarding your balance can be directed to treasurer@pitmanband.org

All marching band students are to report to the high school at 8:30 a.m.  Dress is black shirts and shoes we will be providing a t-shirt for the students to wear.  All students can be picked up at the high school at the conclusion of the parade.

Mattress Sale Fundraiser

Yes it sounds crazy!!! But it's been successful at other schools so were giving it a shot. March 23rd from 10-5 the pitman high school cafeteria will be transformed into a mattress show room. Name brand mattresses with warranties will be on sale. The success of this event depends solely on our band parents making referrals and getting people who need to make this kind of purchase to walk through the door on the 23rd.

We have yard signs and referral flyers in the band room if you need any just have your child pick some up. We also have posters that need to be hung up around town.

This event will be successful if you all help promote it.

Mattress Sale

Mattress Sale Fundraiser March 23rd 10-5 in the high school cafeteria.  Representatives will be on hand  to set up a showroom in our cafeteria to help you with name brand mattress purchases.  Know anyone who might need one please let them know about this event.  Proceeds from this event will go directly to help our kids with items that they need.  Lay away and delivery are available and all forms of payment will be accepted.  Students will receive referral forms to hand out to perspective buyers and students will earn cash for each person they refers that makes a purchase.  Watch your email for important coupons to be used towards your purchase.  Please help us promote this event by passing the word along to your friends and families.

Important Ad Sales Information

The Pitman Jazz Festival is set to take place on April 5th and we're happy to be hosting an additional Jazz Festival on April 20th.  This is a good opportunity not only for the Jazz band but for all the kids and their families involved in Marching and Concert Band as well.  It's a time to show off our school and show everyone what Pitman Pride is all about!
The ad form appears in the "Files" area above that will be used for both the festival and the state championship. The sales from our ad book are what help us put on such great events for our kids!  Please help support the band by going out and selling as many ads as you can!   We have some great businesses in Pitman and the surrounding communities that would love an opportunity to not only get their name out there but also to support such a wonderful program.  Please note that the price includes an ad in both of the books (2 for the price of 1!).    The ad purchase form is due back to Mr. Carey by March 11, 2013.
